Barry Sadler AFRIN AFNI
Barry is a Master Mariner and a serving first class, assessing Southampton Pilot. In addition, he is a qualified teacher, an MCA EDH examiner, a maritime consultant and was a part time lecturer of MCA Orals prep at Warsash Superyacht Academy for 16 years.
He has over 18 years experience of teaching commercial and yacht MCA Orals Prep to all officer, cadet and superyacht deck disciplines. and in recognition of his high level of professional achievement The Royal Institute of Navigation council elected him as an Associate Fellow of the Institute.
His combination of rigorous academic knowledge and practical skills ensures Barry remains current with all ship aspects of onboard operational techniques as well as the latest maritime developments and notable research.
Barry is passionate about Maritime education and is currently finishing is MSc in Merchant Shipping Operations before hoping to undertake a PHD.
In his spare time he is the volunteer pilot for the Jubilee Sailing Trust, works as a consultant for Sail GB and is the liaison pilot for Cowes week, providing briefings for the yacht captains and pre regatta advice to the regatta director
Mike is a Master Mariner currently working as a Pilot in the Port of Southampton. Prior to Piloting, he sailed as Master with Hanson Aggregates for 2 years, during which time he acquired a PEC for the Port of London. His previous experience includes working for Holland America Line for 7 years up to the rank of Safety Officer, as well as sailing as Chief Officer for a ferry company.
After graduating with a BSc in Meteorology, she trained as a forecaster in the Royal Navy and her 8 years included 2 years on RFA Argus. After a successful time with BBC South as their off-screen forecaster and on-screen weather presenter, she discovered her passion for teaching at the Met Office college where she was involved in training both new entry forecasters and experienced staff. Once qualified as a secondary maths teacher and after teaching at a Hampshire school, Dee worked with Warsash Maritime Academy for 13 years teaching both maths and meteorology to students on the HND and Foundation Degree programmes.
Barbara is a Master Mariner and Captain with Red Funnel Ferries. She started her career at sea at the age of 16 on sail training vessels. She worked on various Cruise Lines with most time spent at Disney Cruises as Senior Watchkeeper and Training Officer. In addition to holding a Southampton PEC she has also held a Portsmouth PEC while working with Wightlink. Barbara spent time as an Associate Lecturer in Southampton Solent University and was Union representative for the Red Funnel employees.
In her limited spare time Barbara likes to cycle and drink beer with her husband Noel.
